What is an Outage?
Each of our servers is pinged* by a third party once every 5 minutes. If the ping does not return a positive
result, then the third party (www.siteuptime.com) claims that we have an outage and reports 5 minutes of downtime. www.siteuptime.com
pings the server again every 5 minutes and each unsuccessful ping is counted against us as 5 minutes of downtime (the amount of time between pings). Reasons for unsuccessful
pings are varied. Sometimes, we reboot a server purposely after software installs or to improve performance. Other times, the server may
be down for other reasons such as slow network or an unexpected downtime. Regardless, we report them all to our customers and count them
as downtime or an OUTAGE.
